The Galaxy Book 2 series has many qualities, but according to many reviews, battery life doesn't seem to be among them. It's average and doesn't help the Book 2 rise atop other Windows-powered laptops in this regard. Samsung appears to be aware of this shortcoming and recently published a 2-minute video containing tips on improving the Galaxy Book 2's battery life.
If you own a Galaxy Book 2 and you're looking for simple ways to improve battery life, there's not much you can do outside of tweaking settings in Windows 11. Through its 2-minute video, Samsung offers a handful of relatively basic — and just as relatively useful — bits of advice. Here's the rundown, but you can check the video below for helpful visuals and step-by-step guides.
- Enable battery saver in Windows 11
- Reduce screen brightness
- Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity when they're not in use
- Disconnect external devices (like mice, keyboards, and wired controllers) when not in use
- Check power-saving options in Windows 11 to prevent the laptop from staying on for long periods when you're not using it
- Close unused background apps via the Task Manager (but be careful, as some apps might need to run in the background for the system to work correctly)
- Clean the laptop's air vents regularly. If there's too much dust in the air vents, the laptop's cooling system needs to work harder to keep the temperatures in check. Spinning the fans will result in lower battery life
An “Ultra” Galaxy Book might be coming next year
If you happen to own a Galaxy Book 2, feel free to let us know in the comment section if you have had battery life issues or concerns.
As for a possible sequel to the Galaxy Book 2 series — one that might address some of the battery life issues reviewers have been pointing out — there is some evidence indicating that Samsung might be working on its first Ultra-labeled laptop, following after its flagship Galaxy smartphones and tablets that bear the same moniker. There are no details on battery life, but the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra appears to be running Windows 11 and feature an Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E adapter.
If it is true that Samsung plans a Galaxy Book 3 series, the latter could get revealed next year. The company unveiled the Galaxy Book 2 lineup in February 2022.
