The memory super cycle has worked out very well for Samsung Electronics. It's one of the three major players in the industry, and the company is now making money hand over fist.

Rising memory prices have lifted Samsung's quarterly profits to record highs. The company is now set to guide a record quarterly profit of over 100 trillion won or $80 billion for the third quarter of this year.

Samsung's mobile division expected to post a loss

Several brokerage estimates project that Samsung will report Q3 2026 operating profit of 108.1 trillion won or $80.2 billion. This would be the first time that the company has hit such bonkers quarterly figures.

This guidance would indicate a revenue growth of 134.4% and would outpace the record results the company posted just last quarter, where its operating profit hit an all-time high of 89.4 trillion won or roughly $67 billion.

The projected profit for the third quarter of this year would be almost twice the operating profit that Samsung earned in all of 2025. This shows the scale of the opportunity that the company is taking full advantage of in the memory market.

Even though Samsung Electronics includes other business segments, such as mobile devices and consumer electronics, the vast majority of these gains will be driven solely by the semiconductor business.

The mobile division is expected to post a loss in this quarter, due to slowing demand and rising costs, particularly for memory chips.
