Firmware

Last updated: July 25th, 2022 at 15:31 UTC+02:00

We're starting the week with some exciting news for beta firmware testers and fans of new One UI updates. Samsung has just launched the official One UI 5.0 beta forum on its Community website, which could mean that the beta program will be open to the public soon.

Samsung will gather user feedback from One UI 5 users through the usual communications channels, including the Members app and the Community forums. Well, Samsung has now launched the One UI 5 section inside the “One UI Beta Program” portion of its Community website. There are no community posts yet, because the public doesn't have access to One UI 5, but the forum will get populated with questions and feedback once the beta program goes live.

Get ready for One UI 5 beta (only in select markets)

We previously reported that the Galaxy S22 series could enter the first One UI 5.0 public beta phase in the third week of July. Beta schedules are never set in stone, and we're now entering the final week of July with no One UI 5.0 beta available. However, Samsung has been testing One UI 5.0 beta builds internally for at least a month and could open the beta to the public at any moment now.

One UI 5.0 is based on Android 13, and although the company didn't participate in the Android 13 beta program by Google, the Korean tech giant will run its own public testing phase for its proprietary One UI skin. The official support forums are now up, and the firmware should follow suit.

We'll keep you posted as soon as we find out more, but keep in mind that the beta program will have a limited reach. As usual, it will go live in select markets, albeit European customers might have an easier time with the beta program in 2022, thanks to Samsung's decision to unbind European devices from Country Specific Codes (CSC). Time will tell.
