Samsung (kind of) took us by surprise when it announced the One UI 6 Watch update for Galaxy smartwatches powered by Google's Wear OS. One UI 6 Watch will expand the Galaxy AI experience beyond Samsung's smartphones and tablets for the first time. It will also bring Wear OS version 5 to eligible smartwatches.
Like last year's One UI 5 Watch update, Galaxy Watch owners will get to test One UI 6 Watch ahead of its official release. The One UI 6 Watch beta program launched on June 12 and will support all of Samsung's Wear OS smartwatches, but will it be available in all countries?
As you may already know, Samsung's yearly One UI beta programs for its smartphones and tablets are restricted to less than a dozen markets, and the list of supported countries for One UI Watch beta tests tends to be even smaller.
One UI 6 Watch beta: Will your country get it?
One UI 6 Watch beta testing is available for users in the following countries:
- South Korea
- USA
These are the same countries where the One UI 5 Watch beta was released last year, so Samsung's approach isn't changing for the One UI 6 Watch beta. We can also rule out the possibility of the beta program expanding to other markets later on, though Samsung is welcome to surprise us.
The upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series will be the first to come with One UI 6 Watch preloaded. It's possible that some new features—both AI and non-AI—will not be coming to older Galaxy Watches. Samsung is also likely to wait until after the Galaxy Watch 7 series has gone on sale to make the finished/stable version of One UI 6 Watch and Wear OS 5 available for older watches.
