Uh oh, it seems Samsung fans are in for a long wait for the next version of One UI. Samsung announced at its 2024 developer conference that the stable version of One UI 7 will arrive next year with the Galaxy S25 series.
That's right. While One UI 7 will be available in beta for developers and users this year, the finished update will not be ready until 2025 and will debut with Samsung's next flagship smartphones.
One UI 7 beta update coming this year, but stable release set for 2025
While Samsung didn't lay out the reason for why One UI 7, which will be based on Android 15, is not coming this year, it probably has to do with the fact that One UI 7 will bring a major UI refresh. Samsung's plans to brand all its software as One UI could be a reason as well.
Samsung says One UI 7.0 brings a new user experience focused on simple and “emotive design.” One UI 7 has three core design elements:
- Simple: Aiming for purposeful simplicity across the UI.
- Impactful: Creating a new signature impression for One UI.
- Emotive: Creating UI elements, like a new blur engine, that creates a positive emotional response from users.
While details are few, One UI 7.0 looks to be one of the biggest updates One UI has received in many years, and we can't wait to see the actual software running on a real device. Fingers crossed the One UI 7.0 beta program will go live sooner rather than later.
