Samsung's Portable SSD T7 is extremely popular among users thanks to its fast speed and high reliability. Now, the South Korean firm is ready to launch the successor to that SSD, and it is called the Portable SSD T9. The company's upcoming portable SSD has now been leaked, revealing its design and features.
The Portable SSD T9 is Samsung's next-generation portable SSD, and it could be launched before the end of this year. WinFuture has published its images and some of the specifications. The Portable SSD T9 appears to have a rugged plastic body, and it will be sold in three storage size variants: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. The pricing of the 1TB Portable SSD T9 starts at €199.99 for the European market.
More importantly, the Portable SSD T9 will come with a massive transfer speed upgrade. According to its box, it supports up to 2,000MB/s data transfer speeds, hinting at the presence of a Thunderbolt 4 or USB 4 port. And this port, understandably, has a USB Type-C connector. We can also expect the upcoming SSD to come in various colors and have some form of dust and water resistance, given that the Portable SSD T7 Shield has an IP56 rating.
Compared to the existing Portable SSD T7 SSD (USB 3.2 Gen 2), the Portable SSD T9 has twice the data transfer speed. However, it doesn't appear to be as fast as some other portable SSDs in the market that have Thunderbolt connectivity. So, we need to wait for the official announcement to know more details. It would pair well with the Galaxy Book 3 lineup that has Thunderbolt 4 ports.
