Samsung promises to create 30,000 new jobs in South Korea

Some time ago, Samsung promised that it would create about 50,000 retail jobs in India via its DOST (Digital and Offline Service Training) initiative in India.

It has a similar initiative planned for South Korea, which will create up to 30,000 jobs in the country. The program will be spread out over a span of three years. The initiative is a part of Samsung's larger CSR (corporate social responsibility) plan that has been in place for quite some time.

Samsung rebuilding its workforce to remain competitive

Some of the existing programs such as C-Lab Outside and Smart Factory will get expanded as well. Samsung will also double the recruitment in its Samsung Software Academy For Youth (SSAFY) from 1,000 to 2,000.

Recently released company boss Lee Jae-yong made a rare public appearance at the event, which was also attended by bigwigs such as Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and Labor Minister An Kyung-duk. Samsung has followed KT Corp's footsteps to become the second company to participate in the South Korean Government's Youth Hope ON program.

Samsung, much like many other OEMs out there, has to cut a significant portion of its workforce over the past year due to the ongoing pandemic in markets such as China, India and even South Korea. These new initiatives are likely Samsung's way of rebuilding its workforce; something that it desperately needs to remain competitive.
