Last week, Samsung announced when it would launch the Galaxy F55 in India. Now, the company has revealed the key specifications of the smartphone, and going by those features, the upcoming F-series device turns out to be a rebranded Galaxy C55, just as we had suspected. Let’s take a look.
Samsung reveals Galaxy F55 features
Earlier this month, Samsung and Flipkart created a webpage for the Galaxy F55 on Flipkart’s website, teasing the arrival of the device in the Indian market. Now, they’ve updated the webpage with the phone's key specifications.
According to it, the Galaxy F55 will have a Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the smartphone will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and you will be able to get the phone in India up to 12GB of RAM. At the rear, there will be three cameras: a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 5MP camera, and a 2MP camera.
At the front, there will be a 50MP camera for selfies. You will also be able to record videos using front and rear cameras simultaneously. The phone will feature a fingerprint scanner and 45W charging. Lastly, Samsung says that it will offer the Galaxy F55 with “4 generation of Android upgrades and 5 years of security updates.”
The Galaxy F55 will have a vegan leather back with stitching over it, which will make the phone stand out in the crowd. According to Samsung, it will be the “segment’s slimmest vegan leather smartphone launch of 2024” and the “segment’s lightest vegan leather smartphone launch of 2024.” The phone will be available in two color options in India, Apricot Crush and Raisin Black.
What about the remaining specifications?
As you can see, all the features of the Galaxy F55 that Samsung has revealed are similar to that of the Galaxy C55, especially the design, which suggests that the upcoming F-series smartphone is a rebranded variant of the company's latest C-series device. As such, other aspects of the Galaxy F55, on which Samsung hasn’t shed light yet, such as the size of the display, details about the two cameras at the rear, the Android version, and the capacity of the battery, will be similar to that of the Galaxy C55.
The story continues after the video…
So, expect the Galaxy F55 to have a 6.7-inch display and feature a 5,000mAh battery. As for the two cameras at the rear, the details about which Samsung hasn't revealed, one should be an ultrawide-angle unit and the other should be a macro camera. Lastly, expect it to arrive with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 out of the box. Samsung will launch the Galaxy F55 in India on 17 May 2024.
