Samsung has released information about its new security update for the month of September 2023. Earlier today, the company updated its security bulletin webpage, and it revealed some important information about the September 2023 security patch that will soon start to roll out to compatible Galaxy phones and tablets.
Samsung's September 2023 security patch fixes 62 vulnerabilities found in Galaxy devices
The September 2023 security patch from Samsung brings fixes for 62 security vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the software. Of these, four fixes marked ‘Critical' and 19 fixes marked ‘High' have been provided by Google. Samsung Semiconductor, which makes Exynos chips and modems, has offered four security patches (two Moderate and two Low) for affected Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Samsung itself has fixed 35 security flaws in its devices, and those patches have been included in the September 2023 security patch. Some of those vulnerabilities were found in the Samsung Keyboard app, security settings, Dual Messenger, Samsung Knox AI, storage of Phone and Messages apps, Settings Suggestions, One UI's Folder Lock feature, Weather app, Wi-Fi Auto Hotspot, inbound SMS handler, and lockscreen settings.
The company could soon release the September 2023 security patch to its high-end smartphones, including the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Mid-range smartphones and high-end tablets may get the update in the second phase, while entry-level phones and affordable tablets can get the update even later.
Samsung has ended software update support for the Galaxy Note 10 and the Galaxy Note 10+ after updating them for four years.
