The Galaxy S22 Ultra has allowed Samsung to set a new Guinness World Record, the company announced today. Samsung is now the record holder for a rather unusual category called ‘Most people unboxing simultaneously.'
This category's been around for at least a few years now. And by the looks of it, Xiaomi was the previous record holder (since 2019) with a record of 703 people unboxing its products simultaneously.
Last week, Samsung India has set a new record through its #EpicUnboxing event held on March 5. It almost tripled Xiaomi's record and registered a whopping 1820 simultaneous unboxings across 17 cities.
Event participants got freebies and a special ‘thank you' note
The way the #EpicUnboxing event worked was that a number of select Galaxy S22 Ultra pre-book customers have received early deliveries. How many? Well, roughly 1820 people, all of which contributed to Samsung's newfound success. The simultaneous unboxings took place across 19 venues (in 17 cities) nation-wide.
To mark the event, Samsung gave these customers limited-edition bundles containing the Galaxy S22 Ultra alongside the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2. A note accompanied these special editions bundle, thanking fans for their support.
“I am thankful to all our consumers and epic fans who came together to make this a truly historic day for Samsung,” said Aditya Babbar, Senior Director & Head of Product Marketing, Samsung India.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is available for pre-order in India for the starting price of INR 109,999 ($1,433) and the device is expected to ship later this week. Customers pre-booking the new flagship phone will also get a Galaxy Watch 4 free of charge.
