There's been a bit of an upheaval in the repair options available for Samsung customers in the United States, but the company is forging ahead with a new collaboration that aims to simplify the device repair process, at least for one carrier's customers in the country.
Samsung has simplified the process for those who own its devices on AT&T, the second largest mobile carrier in the United States, making it easier for them to schedule a repair for their device.
AT&T CS agents can now schedule repair appointments
The aim is to make same-day, walk-in repair more accessible for users who are on AT&T. The company has teamed up with the carrier to provide Same Unit Repair options to its customers. So instead of requesting a device change via customer service, AT&T Call Center agents can now schedule in-warranty, walk-in repair service appoints at around 700 Samsung retail or uBreakiFix by Asurion locations across the country.
This greatly simplifies the process of obtaining an appointment for repair services. Customers don't have to contact different parties, they simply call up AT&T and have one of their agents schedule the appointment for them. The focus will remain on Same Unit Repair, meaning that the repair service provider would try their best to fix the customers' own device.
A lot of other companies, including Apple, would simply either swap out the customers' broken device for a new unit or a comparable refurbished unit. Samsung understands that devices are very personal which is why every effort would be made to fix the customer's own device and bring it back to “factory quality condition.”
All repaired devices will be provided with a 90-day limited warranty or the remaining period of the original warranty. The repair centers have Samsung-certified technicians and only use Samsung's genuine parts for repair jobs, ensuring a high level of service quality. Same-day repairs are available for most mobile devices, including Galaxy S21 models and up, as long as appointments are made by 3PM or earlier.
