Samsung's SmartThings is the world's biggest smart home platform, used by over 280 million users globally. It can control various smart home products and even features integration with smart cars. Now, the company has brought its first-ever EV charger integration into SmartThings.

The South Korean firm has partnered with EvLoop for EV charger integration into SmartThings. This feature allows users to better manage and monitor their electric vehicles. Using the SmartThings app on their smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs, and even refrigerators, users can stay better informed about the charging of their electric vehicles.

EvLoop is an electric vehicle charging network in the US. It offers a variety of charging solutions for passenger EVs, including EV Flex, EV Flex Lite, and EV Flex Level 2. EV Flex is a sleek and affordable option designed for home usage. EV Flex Lite offers remote maintenance, while EV Flex Level 2 is a full-featured charging station with several mounting options. The company has its own app to be used with its chargers, and it is called the Loop EV Charger. It can be used to locate charging stations, pay for charging, and keep a check on charging status.

Samsung says that EV charger integration will allow users to track the energy consumed by their electric vehicles and efficiently manage the charging of compatible cars. For example, they can start charging their electric car during non-peak hours through automation features offered by the SmartThings app and platform. This will bring cost-saving benefits while also improving lead on the electricity grid.
