Samsung has got a lot of work on its hands right now on the software front. The company has the One UI 6 rollout ongoing for a slew of Galaxy smartphones and will continue to release the update for more and more devices in the coming weeks.
Samsung is also busy working on One UI 6.1, which will debut on the Galaxy S24 lineup in five weeks with several AI-based features. One UI 6.1 will also be available for several existing Galaxy devices, and Samsung has seemingly started working on the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 series.
Galaxy S23 series is likely to be the first to get One UI 6.1
A new test firmware (S918NKSU2ZWX2) for the Galaxy S23 Ultra has been spotted on Samsung's servers, and with the stable One UI 6 update already available for the Galaxy S23 lineup, the new test firmware is likely based on One UI 6.1. It's about the right time for Samsung to begin testing, too, as the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are getting a January launch instead of a launch in February like their predecessors.
It will be interesting to see how many AI-powered One UI 6.1 features will be making their way to the Galaxy S23 lineup and other devices that are eligible for the One UI 6.1 update. Some features might require the increased AI capabilities of the Exynos and Snapdragon chips Samsung will use for its next flagship, but we're assuming most will be able to run just fine on older devices, especially flagship ones launched in the last couple of years.
As for a One UI 6.1 beta program for the masses, we would suggest keeping your expectations in check. Samsung doesn't traditionally do public beta testing for minor One UI updates, but rest assured that we will let you know as soon as we learn more.
