Samsung has a complete lineup of lifestyle-oriented premium TVs, including The Frame, The Serif, The Sero, and The Terrace. While the first three TVs mentioned here are meant to be used inside the home, The Terrace is meant to be used outdoors (such as the terrace). Samsung has announced that its The Terrace TV has received the industry's first Outdoor Visibility Verification.
UL (Underwrite Laboratories), a US-based safety and science organization, has awarded The Terrace TV with its Outdoor Visibility Verification certificate. The certificate is awarded to only those TVs that have a peak brightness of over 3,000 nits, high contrast ratio of over 1,000:1, and over 80% color volume under an ambient lighting condition of 10,000 lux. Needless to say, The Terrace passed all those tests with flying colors.
Yong Hoon Choi, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “UL’s outdoor visibility verification for The Terrace will enable consumers across the globe to further add values to their viewing experiences. As a leader in the TV industry, Samsung will continue to drive innovative technologies that are optimized for new and emerging lifestyles.”
Another display from Samsung, the OH551, which is an outdoor digital signage display, also received the Outdoor Visibility Verification from UL. It means that it works equally well under extremely bright conditions. The Terrace and OH551 also feature an IP55 rating for dust and water splash resistance.
