Samsung, which retained its crown as the global smartphone leader in Q3 2023, has announced that next year it will unveil a Galaxy smartphone powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI). As per the Q3 earnings conference, where the company announced that it managed to post revenue of KRW 67.4 trillion (around $49.86 billion), Samsung said that they are working to introduce AI in their devices.
The South Korean giant said that AI in Galaxy devices will bring new experiences to users, and they are planning to offer this in 2024. The technology that Samsung is referring to is the use of an on-device generative AI technology that will work without the need to connect to the internet. Meaning that generative AI, similar to ChatGPT, will be implemented on Samsung Galaxy phones, which will allow users to access various services through simple commands without the internet.
Samsung's move seems to be a countermeasure for Apple iPhone 16 series
The report also suggests that Samsung is actively working on the development of its own generative AI technology for this purpose. Samsung could bring the best of ChatGPT and Google Bard, along with the option to create content based on specific keywords. According to information from industry insiders, we have also reported that we could see the said AI technology in the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, and the Galaxy S24 could be the next AI powerhouse.
Moreover, Samsung aims to make the Galaxy S24 series the smartest AI phone ever. The AI technology could also power the Galaxy Z6, which is expected to launch in the latter half of 2024. It is believed that Samsung is gearing up and rolling up its sleeves to countermeasure Apple's iPhone 16 series launch, which will happen in H2 of 2024 with on-device AI technology.
