Samsung has announced its upcoming soundbars and TVs will feature a new three-dimensional (3D) audio technology called Eclipsa Audio. All the TVs in the new lineup, ranging from Crystal UHD TVs to Neo QLED 8K TVs, will have audio technology co-developed with Google.

Samsung TVs launched in 2025 will feature Eclipsa Audio

All the soundbars and TVs that Samsung will launch this year will feature Eclipsa Audio, a new audio technology developed to rival Dolby Atmos. It has been co-developed with Google under the AOM's (Alliance for Open Media) IAMF (Immersive Audio Model and Formats) format.

Samsung says Eclipsa Audio brings captivating spatial audio to TV viewers and empowers creators to craft dynamic and immersive audio content.

Samsung has been the world's biggest TV brand for 18 consecutive years, and it is now looking to redefine home entertainment using Eclipsa Audio. Eclipsa Audio allows creators and directors to adjust the location and intensity of sounds and spatial reflections to make audio more immersive.

Creators can start uploading videos with Eclipsa Audio to YouTube. Viewers with YouTube Premium can watch those videos with premium spatial audio. Google and Samsung are working with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to create a certification program for devices that can playback Eclipsa Audio.

It isn't clear how many movie studios and production houses have backed Eclipsa Audio. However, IAMF is backed by several brands, including Amazon, AMD, Arm, Apple, Google, Huawei, Intel, LG, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Nvidia, OPPO, Snap, Tencent, Vivo, WD, and Zoom.

Taeyong Son, Executive VP and Head of Samsung Visual Display's R&D Team, said, “We are proud to lead the industry with the integration of Eclipsa Audio into our 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. This innovation opens new possibilities for immersive audio experiences and reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of home entertainment.
