Last month, Samsung TVs started getting the promised One UI update. Although it is based on Tizen OS 8.0, the company has started using One UI-like design elements. However, in our opinion, there isn't enough similarity between One UI on TVs and One UI on smartphones.
We have now found more One UI flair on Samsung TVs.
Daily Board feature on Samsung TVs have One UI design vibes
The One UI update for Samsung TVs brought several new and improved features. However, the overall design language doesn't completely match the One UI design on smartphones and tablets. The app icons look similar, but the Settings page still looks like Tizen.
Recently, we found that the Daily Board screen on our Samsung TV has the design flair of One UI seen on smartphones. The Daily Board feature lets you can decorate the TV's screen with wallpapers and useful widgets. This widget is displayed when you summon Bixby or enter the room.
As you can see above, SmartThings and Weather widgets look similar to how they look on Samsung's Galaxy smartphones. The icon for the Notes app looks similar to the Samsung Notes app icon. You can choose the following widgets to appear on Daily Board.
- Weather
- Notes
- Tips
- Home Status (SmartThings)
- Camera (SmartThings)
- Energy (SmartThings)
You can change the background wallpaper for Daily Board. There are several wallpapers to choose from, but you can't set a custom image as wallpaper. You can set the widgets to auto-rotate and the frequency for auto-rotation. Auto rotation of widgets is active when you place more than four widgets on the screen.
Hopefully, with future One UI updates for its TVs, Samsung will align the overall UI design language with the design of One UI on smartphones and tablets.
