Samsung TV Plus, the Korean tech giant’s linear video streaming service for its smart TVs, is getting more content, thanks to a new distribution deal with Vevo, the world’s leading premium music video provider. The deal will bring five genre-curated linear channels – Vevo Pop, Vevo Hip-Hop, Vevo Country, Vevo Latino, and Vevo R&B – to Samsung TV Plus.
Vevo Pop on channel 1517 is the first among the five channels to go live, with the others coming at a later date. Like the other content on Samsung TV Plus, these are free ad-supported channels. Vevo already has distribution deals with YouTube, Pluto TV, and other streaming services, so some or all of this content is already available to Samsung Smart TV customers via third-party apps.
“As a global leader in TV, Samsung is an ideal partner for us to enhance our offering; with their scale and reach the Samsung TV Plus service represents enormous opportunities for our clients and partners,” said Kevin McGurn, President of Sales and Distribution at Vevo.
Samsung TV Plus is available only on the 2016 and later Samsung Smart TVs in select markets. It’s a completely free ad-supported linear video streaming service with 70+ channels covering news, sports, entertainment, and more.
