With the new year kicking off, Samsung has begun launching refreshed variants of its products. Today, the company announced 2025 lineups of Smart Monitor, Odyssey OLED, and Viewfinity series monitors. We have already covered the new Odyssey OLED models, which boast a staggering, 500Hz refresh rate, here, and in this article, we are going to take a look at the 2025 Smart Monitor series.
Samsung launches 2025 Smart Monitor M9
Samsung has launched only one model in the 2025 Smart Monitor lineup, the 2025 Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF). This is an all-new model (there was no Smart Monitor M9 until now) and it sits above the Smart Monitor M8 from last year. New models of other variants could come soon.
The 2025 Samsung Smart Monitor M9 features an OLED display, making it the first model in the lineup to come with an OLED screen. The screen measures 32 inches diagonally and features a 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Details about its response time and color gamut coverage are still under wraps. That being said, the OLED panels usually have very low response time and impressive colors. With the OLED technology, 4K resolution, and 165Hz refresh rate, the Smart Monitor is perfect for gaming as well as productivity
The new model comes with a couple of AI-powered features to enhance the picture quality. First, there is the 4K AI Upscaling Pro which uses “deep learning to learn and analyze input signals, resolution, image quality, etc. to clearly convert low-quality content into 4K high-quality content.” Then there’s the AI Picture Optimiser onboard which “analyzes the PC-connected screen through on-device AI and provides optimal picture quality suited to the content.”
The Smart Monitor M9 2025 also has an in-built camera that can record videos at up to 4K resolution for video conferencing. Speaking of which, the monitor features the Tizen OS Home operating system, a full-fledged OS supporting apps and offering many functionalities for convenience and entertainment.
Samsung will showcase it at CES 2025
Samsung hasn’t yet revealed details about the physical ports the new model has. Considering that the monitor features a 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, we assume that it will have a couple of HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 1.4 ports. You might also get a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 and a couple of USB Type-A ports for convenience. We hope that Samsung offers it with a stand that features height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments.
The South Korean tech giant is yet to announce details about the new model’s pricing and availability. The company will showcase the product at CES 2025, which will kick off on 7 January 2025.
