Samsung updates millions of Galaxy devices with Galaxy AI

Galaxy AI debuted in early 2024 with the Galaxy S24 lineup, and two months later, Samsung is ready to bring the experience to millions more users around the world.

Samsung is making a huge push to make people's everyday lives more productive, meaningful, and fun through Galaxy AI, its umbrella term that encompasses every feature that is powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Today, Galaxy AI began rolling out to select smartphones and tablets through the One UI 6.1 update. Devices eligible for Galaxy AI include all of the company's flagship devices from 2023, which include the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Millions of users will soon be taking advantage of Galaxy AI

Instead of keeping Galaxy AI exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series to attract consumers to buy its latest flagship, Samsung is bringing existing users into the fold. While it would be nice to see Galaxy AI coming to pre-2023 smartphones as well, this is still an important milestone and one worth praising.

Some non-AI features in One UI 6.1 will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series owing to hardware limitations, but Samsung's 2023 flagships will receive every AI feature that Galaxy S24 owners have had access to since the start of the year.

Some of the highlights of Galaxy AI include live text and call translations, smart summaries of texts, notes, and webpages, transcribing and summarizing voice recordings, writing assistance in messaging and other communication apps, advanced object manipulation in photos, and instant Google searches using a simple gesture. Galaxy AI can also create custom wallpapers and turn standard videos into slow motion videos.

If you own a Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, or Galaxy Tab S9, you will soon be seeing a notification for the One UI 6.1 update. It may not be available in every country on the first day, but you can expect to have all the fancy Galaxy AI features at your fingertips within the next two weeks.
