Samsung has launched a new version of the Odyssey G5 gaming monitor. It is an incremental upgrade over its predecessor and offers a significantly larger 32-inch screen. The remaining Samsung Odyssey G5 specs are identical to that of its predecessor.
The 32-inch IPS LCD panel on the Samsung Odyssey G5 has a QHD (2,560 x 1,400) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 400 nits. Other features include a 1ms response time, a refresh rate of 165Hz, 99% coverage of the sRGB colour gamut, and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
Additionally, the Samsung Odyssey G5 is also compatible with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium. Input options include one DisplayPort 1.2 port, one HDMI 2.0 port, one USB Type-A port and one 3.5mm audio jack.
There appears to be only one colour variant of the Samsung Odyssey G5, namely black. It measures 14.6 x 602.9 x 311.1 mm with the stand and weighs 7.5 kg. The included stand allows for pivot and swivel motion, allowing the monitor to be used in both portrait and landscape orientations.
Samsung is yet to reveal the price and availability of the Odyssey G5 gaming monitor. If its predecessor is anything to go by, we can expect it to cost around the $600 mark, although this variant could be priced a bit higher due to the larger panel size. We should find out soon enough on Samsung's official listing for the Odyssey G5.
