Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled the ViewFinity S9, a 5K monitor designed for professionals who need higher color accuracy and resolution. Last month, the company announced its availability and pricing, and the monitor is available in the US starting today.
The ViewFinity S9 is priced at $1,599.99 in the US and is readily available through Amazon. Amazon is displaying a one-day delivery option for some locations, but it could vary for other sites. Compared to the Apple Studio Display, the ViewFinity S9 has a similar price, but the Samsung monitor comes with a bundled height and tilt adjustable stand, a matte finish (for which Apple charges an additional $300), and a smart TV operating system.
Samsung's new monitor in the ViewFinity lineup has a 27-inch QLED VA panel with 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,880 pixels), a 60Hz refresh rate, a 1,000:1 aspect ratio, and a Delta E ≦ 2.1. It can reach up to 600 nits of peak brightness and DisplayHDR 600 certification for HDR content playback. It has HDR10+ certification, too, and comes with built-in Tizen OS. It has all the audio and video streaming apps built in and comes with a remote controller.
The monitor has one Thunderbolt 4 port (with 90W USB PD charging for connected devices), three USB 3.2 Type-C ports, one Mini DisplayPort, a SlimFit 4K webcam, and stereo speakers with Adaptive Sound+. It has a VESA 100 x 100 mount so that you can attach any third-party stand or wall mount option. It also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and AirPlay 2.
