Samsung has announced it will bring the ability to save electronic certificates and IDs issued by the South Korean government in Samsung Wallet. Starting today, users can save their digital certificates on their Galaxy smartphones via the Samsung Wallet app for added convenience.
Samsung Wallet integration with Government24 service in South Korea
Galaxy smartphone users in South Korea can save, view, and share more than 11 types of government IDs and certificates issued by the country's Government24 service. The company says displaying such documents through the Samsung Wallet app will have the same legal effect as displaying documents through Government24. Those documents include the following:
- Business Registration Certificate
- Certificate Of Graduation From Elementary/Middle School
- Driving Experience Certificate
- Health Insurance Premium Payment Confirmation
- Health Insurance Qualification Gain/Loss Confirmation
- Health Insurance Qualification Confirmation (Notification)
- National Pension Subscriber Registration Certificate
- Proof Of Income
- Resident Registration Card
- Vaccination Certificate
To use this feature, a user must be registered with the Government24 service and click on Samsung Pass in the Samsung Wallet app. Once the Digital Signature Certificate is issued, it can be viewed from the Electronic Certificate section of the Samsung Wallet app. Users can even issue a Samsung Pay Prepaid Recharge Card for their children or limit spending on some Samsung Pay-supported credit cards. All the data is secure behind a PIN or a fingerprint.
Samsung also plans to add more accessibility features to Samsung Wallet to make it easier to use by everyone.
