Samsung has been releasing impressive smartwatches, fitness trackers, and truly wireless earphones since the past couple of years. No wonder, the company made impressive gains in the wearables market during Q3 2020. However, it still has a long way to go before it can offer a tough fight to Apple.

According to the latest data from market research firm IDC, Samsung shipped around 11.2 million wearables (fitness bands, smartwatches, and wireless earphones) during Q3 2020. The company ranked fourth, behind Apple, Xiaomi, and Huawei, and captured a 9% share of the market. That's an impressive 32.2% growth compared to the numbers from Q3 2019 when it shipped 8.5 million units.

Apple shipped 41.4 million AirPods and Apple Watches and managed to capture a 33.1% share of the market. Xiaomi shipped 17 million wearables, placing itself at the second position with a market share of 13.6%. Huawei shopped 13.7 million wearable devices and experienced a whopping 87.2% growth year-over-year. Fitbit and BoAt were tied to the fifth place with 3.3 million units shipped. Overall, 125 million wearables were sold globally during the third quarter of 2020.

In terms of fitness band and smartwatch sales, Samsung was placed in the fifth position. The South Korean tech giant shipped 2.8 million Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Fit devices during the third quarter of this year.  The company launched the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy Buds Live, which were well-received. The company is now looking to launch the Galaxy Buds Pro, which feature an in-ear canal design and ANC.
