The International Design Excellence Awards 2022 (IDEA 2022) concluded with Samsung Electronics winning no fewer than 42 awards. More specifically, the company earned two Gold, five Silvers, and one Bronze award while being granted the finalist title 34 times.
IDEA 2022 is an award program held by the Industrial Designers Society of America. The latter was founded in 1980 and awards industrial design achievements. For IDEA 2022, the program named winners across 20 categories, from home appliances to consumer electronics. IDEA rewards companies whose products show Design Innovation, Benefit to User, Benefit to Society, and more. Needless to say, Samsung was one of the main candidates.
Bespoke wins Gold, mobile devices and services get Silver
Unsurprisingly given the “industrial design” scope of IDEA, Samsung's Bespoke US Kitchen Package won one Gold award this year. The Bespoke US Kitchen Package includes an oven range, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher, all of which follow Samsung's Bespoke design philosophy of catering to the needs of every user. The company even allows Bespoke fridge customers to print their own photos on the doors through an online service launched earlier this year.
The second Gold award was awarded to Samsung's Bespoke Jet cordless vacuum and all-in-one Clean Station for its intelligent design and unique user experience it provides, from cleaning to disposal and storage.
The five Silver awards were granted to the Galaxy Tab S8 for its combination of high build quality empowered by Armor Aluminum, S Pen integration, and 14.6-inch AMOLED display (for the Tab S8 Ultra model, in particular). Samsung also won the Silver award for its Galaxy Upcycling at Home program, the Cook Sensor and Samsung Air Hood, and the Samsung India Keyboard, which now supports easier typing in 29 Indian dialects.
Finally, the Bronze award was given to Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases, including the Silicone Cover with Strap and Silicone Cover with Ring.
In accepting these awards, Samsung Electronics's Executive Vice President at Corporate Design Center, Jinsoo Kim, said: “We will constantly strive to provide sustainable experiences with creative innovations for our customers.”
