Samsung wireless speakers can now go back online without boot looping

Some of you might recall that Samsung wireless speaker systems from the R series went a bit haywire last week. Thankfully, the company says it knows what caused the issue in the first place and confirms that the problem is now gone.

In case you missed the news last week, Samsung multiroom wireless speakers from the R1, R Lite, R3, and R6 lineups were getting stuck in a boot loop.

Forum members found a workaround and were able to use their wireless speakers again. However, this solution required users to block the speakers' internet access or block traffic to a few specific domains belonging to Deezer and iHeart, thus limiting their capabilities.

Samsung says WAM speakers are now working as intended

A Samsung Community moderator joined the thread populated by user complaints and brought the good news: “The recent issue affecting Samsung's Wireless Audio Multiroom (WAM) products has now been resolved.”

The moderator didn't go into much detail as to what caused the issue in the first place but says the problem was “resolved by an update to our third-party content providers server.” Which makes sense, given the connection with the malfunctioning Deezer and iHeart APIs reported last week.

Now that the problem is fixed, Samsung advises WAM users who have blocked their speakers from accessing the internet to trigger a new network setup.

To reinitialize the network setup, users must reset their speakers. And to do this, they have to disconnect the device from the mains power, reconnect it, then immediately press and hold the volume up and down buttons on the device itself rather than its remote. After roughly 6 seconds, the speaker should begin its reset cycle.
