In June this year, Samsung launched the ISOCELL HP9, the world’s first 200MP telephoto camera sensor for smartphones. So far, only one smartphone has used it, the Vivo X100 Ultra. Soon, the ISOCELL HP9 could make its way into another smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

According to a new report from SmartPrix, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the 15 Ultra will have a telephoto camera with a 200-megapixel resolution. Considering that Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 is the only 200MP telephoto camera for smartphones available at the moment, it is safe to assume that it is the one that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will use.

As we've seen in the Vivo X100 Ultra, Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 performs very well. We are excited to see if Xiaomi’s software tuning can squeeze more out of the sensor. Sadly, even if it performs well, we won’t see it in Samsung's next non-foldable flagship phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Instead, it will have a 50MP ISOCELL telephoto camera.
