Samsung is due to launch the Galaxy S21 FE in the coming weeks. There have been quite a few leaks about the device already. Some renders were recently leaked online as well. A new report suggests that Samsung is going to provide a big discount on the Galaxy S21 FE price compared to its predecessor.
The company brought back its Fan Edition branding last year with the Galaxy S20 FE. It also confirmed that new Fan Edition models of each flagship will now be released every year. So it's only a matter of time before the Galaxy S21 FE hits the market.
Galaxy S21 FE will be cheaper than its predecessor
Earlier reports have suggested that the Galaxy S21 FE features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display. The display will have Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 888 processor will power the device with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Galaxy S21 FE renders that were leaked online this week gave us a good look at the device's design. It looks quite like the Galaxy S21+ but has a plastic camera housing instead of the gorgeous Contour Cut metal housing of the full-fledged flagship. The device does retain the metal frame.
Korean media is reporting that the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be priced between 700,000 to 800,000 won ($620 – $720). The Galaxy S20 FE had a price tag of 899,900 ($810) won at launch last year. Samsung is thus expected to lower the new device's price by up to $100.
That's a significant reduction, particularly when you consider the near flagship level specs that this handset provides. Samsung has apparently decided to lower the price because it won't have a new Galaxy Note on offer this year. So much of the heavy lifting will be done by the Galaxy S21 FE in the second half of this year. Customers who don't want a new foldable smartphone would have the Galaxy S21 FE as a newer alternative.
Samsung hasn't revealed as yet when it's planning on launching the Galaxy S21 FE. The device is expected to come out within the next couple of months.
