Samsung's Exynos chips hit their highest market share since 2024

For a couple of years, Samsung's Exynos mobile processors fell out of favor for the company's flagship devices but that has changed over the past year.

Samsung brought back Exynos chipsets for some of its flagship devices and that has lifted the chipset's share in global smartphone chipset shipments to its highest level since 2024.

The latest data from Counterpoint Research shows that Exynos application processors from Samsung made up 9% of all global smartphone chipset shipments in the second quarter of this year. It's now at the highest level since the data first began to be compiled in 2024.

This figure is up 2 percentage points from the first quarter of this year and 3 percentage points from the same period a year ago.

In the current flagship lineup, Samsung is utilizing the Exynos 2600 chipset in some models of the Galaxy S26 series. The company has continued to use its Exynos chips in mid-range devices, a trend that has continued with this year's Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A37.

Taiwan-based MediaTek remains in the top position as it provides Dimensity and Helio chipsets for a wide range of premium and mid-range devices. It had a 31% market share in the second quarter, while Qualcomm was in second place with a 23% market share.

Apple came in third place with a 19% market share, as its A-series chips are used exclusively in its own iPhones.
