Ever since the first Android 15 beta was released last month, it was only a matter of time before we found out that Samsung's got the software team working on the next major release for its software, ostensibly called One UI 7.
No wonder, then, that signs have now appeared online which show that Samsung is making good progress with its One UI 7 Android 15 update. Test builds for the Galaxy S24 series have already been spotted.
One UI 7 update testing is underway internally
One of the first test One UI 7 test builds for the Galaxy S24 have been spotted on the internal server, bearing firmware version S928BXXU2BXE8. It obviously brings no information as to what changes Samsung might introduce with this iteration, but there have been a few reports about when we can possibly expect.
One report suggests that One UI 7 might bring a vertical app drawer, enabling users to make a significant change to how they access apps on the device. There's also the possibility that One UI 7 might bring certain optimizations that help improve battery life on Galaxy phones and tablets.
There will undoubtedly been many cosmetic changes as well. It has been a while since major UI changes were introduced with Samsung's custom firmware, so perhaps we'll get that with this year's iteration. Expect more information to surface in the coming months, before Samsung ultimately launches the One UI 7 beta program in the second half of this year.
As for when One UI 7 will be released, if history is any indication, we may get the update rolling out for all One UI 7 eligible devices before the end of this year.
