When it comes to Android smartphones, most people would agree that Samsung is the undisputed king. Even after the arrival of new brands in the Android world, Samsung continues to be at the top of its game.

Since 2012, the company has been ranked among the top ten best global brands. Over the years, this position improved, and it rose to the 6th position in the years 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Samsung slips down one spot in the rankings

In 2021, the company gained one spot and made it to the 5th position in the Best Global Brands list. During the COVID era, companies, especially in the tech world, faced many challenges. Climbing one position up in such a scenario was quite commendable.

However, according to the latest research report performed by Brand Directory, Samsung slipped one position to 6th in the list of the world’s most valuable brands for 2022. This list places Apple at the top spot, standing at a valuation of $355.1 billion. This valuation number is calculated by Brand Directory and does not represent the actual market cap of the brand.

Amazon got the second position, and Samsung is placed below Walmart in the list. Google secured the third spot. Furthermore, the report states that the brand valuation of Apple increased by 35% compared to 2021. Whereas Samsung saw a 5% increase from last year. Moreover, it is the only Korean brand to make it to the top 25 most valued brands.

The point to note here is that the previous report where Samsung managed to get the 5th position in 2020, was announced by Interbrand. On the other hand, this report of the world’s most valuable brand for 2022 is announced by Brand Directory. Since these different consultancies have their own metrics for measuring brand performance, it is quite tricky to come to an actual conclusion.
