Samsung's always targeted its Galaxy Z Flip phones to the cool kids, and rightly so. It's a very stylish device with substance to match. So the company continues its push to get as many Gen Zs over to its platform as possible.
To that end, Samsung has launched a new marketing campaign for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 called ‘First Flips.' It involves skateboards and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, two seemingly unrelated items, united by their ability to flip.
How do you do, fellow kids?
The campaign has been launched by Samsung in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Iris, a global creative network, and Skateboard GB. The aim of this campaign is to get more people to take up skateboarding, and to promote the sport ahead of the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
Aside from being a longstanding partner of the Olympics, Samsung's next Unpacked event is due to take place in Paris ahead of the games. That's where the new foldable phones will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Ring. So it's hardly surprising that Samsung has lot of marketing activities planned around the Olympics.
The First Flips campaign is an expansion of Samsung's earlier commitment with Skateboard GB to help provide funding for skateboard lessons in the United Kingdom. This campaign will run until early July and features three young content creators, Yung Filly, ArrDee, and Mia Regan, who will be taking up skateboarding for the first time while being trained by seasoned coaches from Samsung's Team Galaxy Skate lineup.
Their progress will be captured on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and shared on social media networks including TikTok and Instagram. The participants all receive a custom skareboard and a Galaxy Z Flip 5 to share their progress as they learn skateboarding and some tricks as well.
