Samsung has announced that in UL Solutions’ UL Verified IoT Device Security Rating, an assessment program that tests the security of smart homes products, the company’s Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI and Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator have scored the Diamond level, which is the highest level in the program.
In the UL Verified IoT Device Security Rating program, UL Solutions tests the security capabilities of smart home products to check how secure they are against security attacks, and based on their performance, offers them a level. The program has five security levels: Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. According to Samsung, the Diamond level is given to only those products that pass “tests evaluating the ability to detect malicious software modulation, prevent illegal access attempts, and anonymize user data.”
Security features in Samsung smart home products
According to Samsung, all the smart home products from the company feature Samsung Knox, a set of security measures to protect against security attacks, all the Wi-Fi-enabled products come with integrated circuits (IC) that encrypt data, and the brand’s Knox Matrix, a “security solution designed to protect interconnected devices” then “secures sensitive information across multiple devices by supporting end-to-end encryption (E2EE) technology to encrypt all shared and synchronized data, and enables devices to intelligently monitor each other for security threats and send notifications to other devices in the event that one is attacked.”
Commenting on the latest achievement, Samsung’s EVP and Head of the Software Development Team in the Digital Appliances Business, Miyoung Yoo, said “AI is becoming a bigger part of our everyday lives, and this is especially apparent in the fact that it is being applied to home appliances. With that being the case, security is naturally becoming more important. We at Samsung are putting a huge amount of effort into making sure that data security enhancements come hand-in-hand with our technological advancements. The secure environment we provide will allow our customers to truly enjoy the connected experience enabled by AI.”
