Samsung’s working on a fix for Galaxy Watch 7’s battery problem

It's been about a week since people who pre-ordered the Galaxy Watch 7 started receiving the units. The initial response to the new smartwatch has been good, but it seems that the launch isn't without hiccups.

Many users have taken to social media and reddit to complain about the Galaxy Watch 7's battery dying way too quickly. That's obviously not something one would expect from a brand new device, but fortunately, Samsung's already working on a fix.

Story continues after the video

The culprit isn't hardware, it's software, likely a bug that's causing accelerated battery depletion on the new smartwatch. A Samsung representative has confirmed on the company's official forums for South Korea that a software fix is being developed and that it's going to be rolled out in the near future.

What the representative didn't reveal was the actual cause behind this issue, so it's unclear precisely what software functionality is to blame. Some users had reported that the battery on the Galaxy Watch 7 was depleting at a rate of 10% an hour, which is far more than what's usual for a smartwatch, and certainly not what one would expect from a brand new device.

It's worth mentioning that this issue seems to be isolated to the Galaxy Watch 7, one of the two new smartwatches that the company launched at its Unpacked event earlier this month. There have been no reports so far about the Galaxy Watch Ultra suffering from a similar issue, which owners of the more expensive model will definitely appreciate.
