Samsung released the 990 Pro SSD late last year, and its release appears to have made room for some heavy discounts on the predecessor model. If you're not necessarily planning on buying the latest and greatest Samsung M.2 SSD, you can now save a pretty penny on the previous model, i.e., the 980 Pro.
The 980 Pro NVMe SSD is now available at various discounts depending on the storage configuration. The 250GB model is still available at full price, but you can save some money on the 500GB or 1TB variants. However, the biggest discount (of nearly 30%) applies to the 2TB variant, which presently costs $179.99 instead of the usual $249.99. You can also save an additional 3% or 5% if you buy a 2-pack or a 3-pack, respectively.
The deal is available through Samsung's online shop in the USA, but you might also find similar discounts on other official portals. Also worth noting is that the $70 discount applies to the 980 Pro without a heatsink. If you need the model featuring a heatsink, you can save $10-$20.
The 980 Pro can reach 7,000MB/s and 5,100MB/s sequential read and write speeds and has reliable thermal control, boasting a heat spreader label and a nickel-coated controller, as well as Samsung's cutting-edge thermal control algorithm “Dynamic Thermal Guard.” Check out the links to the offer below for more details.
