While a new EVO-branded SSD appears to be on its way (at least in Europe), Samsung has decided to slash the prices of the existing 990 PRO variant, both with and without a heatsink.
The 990 PRO is available in three memory configurations: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. The 1TB version gets a $20 discount, the 2TB model is $35 cheaper, and you can save $50 on the 4TB variant. The same deals apply to the 990 PRO with a heatsink. Here are the discounted prices:
- 990 PRO 1TB – $119
- 990 PRO 2TB – $184
- 990 PRO 4TB – $359
- 990 PRO 1TB w/ Heatsink – $134
- 990 PRO 2TB w/ Heatsink – $204
- 990 PRO 4TB w/ Heatsink – $319
High performance solution for desktops or gaming consoles
If you're unsure which model to buy — with or without a heatsink — consider the use cases. If you intend to fit the 990 PRO SSD inside a desktop computer, the standard SSD version without a heatsink should do fine for all but the most demanding use cases.
On the other hand, if you intend to use the 990 PRO SSD as a storage expansion for your Sony PlayStation 5 console, you must get the Heatsink model.
The PS5 storage expansion slot barely has any airflow, and any SSD will likely overheat if it doesn't have a heatsink. The 990 PRO with Heatsink is one of the few recommended PS5 storage expansion solutions.
Hit the “Buy” button below if you want to expand your storage and save up to $50 along the way. This is a limited-time offer.
