Earlier this month, Samsung released the much-awaited Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta to the Galaxy S24 series. While it brought a refreshed UI and a ton of new features, it also had many issues. One of the concerning ones was that it consumed much more battery than the stable Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1.
However, it being the first beta, such issues were expected. That being said, people were anticipating that the South Korean tech giant would fix it with the second beta. Well, earlier this week, the company released the second beta, which fixed a lot of things. Unfortunately, the battery drain issue isn’t one of them.
On Samsung’s Community forum and other platforms, people have been complaining that even after upgrading from the first to the second beta, the battery drain issue is persistent. In fact, a user claims that the second beta is consuming twice the battery in the idle state compared to the first beta. Another user reports that their Galaxy S24 consumed 6% battery in just 16 minutes.
Samsung has acknowledged the issue and has asked people to report the problem in the Samsung Members app (along with attaching the system log data) within 15 minutes of witnessing it so that it can investigate each case in depth and come up with a solution. Expect the brand to address the issue in the next (third) beta. Unfortunately, there’s no info on its release date.
