Samsung has partnered with another filmmaker, Director Na Hong-jin, to release a new short film called “Faith.” The film is exclusively shot on the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, showcasing the phone's powerful camera capabilities.

Faith's world premiere was announced by Samsung and Director Hong Jin on February 22, 2023, at Megabox COEX. Over 300 individuals, including journalists, Galaxy fans, and moviegoers, attended the event.

In 2022, Samsung partnered with Oscar-winning filmmaker Charlie Kaufman to make a short film using the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The result was a beautiful and unique project that showcased the phone's capabilities in a new and innovative way.

For those unaware, Samsung showed behind the scenes footage for two short films at the Galaxy S23 launch event: Behold, directed by Ridley Scott, and Faith, a horror movie by Korean filmmaker Na Hong-Jin. Both films were shot with the S23 Ultra.

The fact that Faith was shot on the Ultra variant of the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy S23 series is the film's main selling point. Furthermore, the camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone received high praise from the film's director, who specifically commended its nightography feature for capturing sharp details even in low-light situations. The new features of the Galaxy S23 Ultra significantly aided in enhancing the film's overall gloomy atmosphere.

Filmmaker Na Hong-jin in a post-premiere interview said he found out how deftly the Galaxy S23 Ultra captures details in low light. He, therefore, particularly requested that the art director treat the props on site with care. “There were real objects on display on the shelves. When editing and viewing the effects, each line of the prop is expressed very delicately, and there is no difference compared to professional shooting equipment.”

The Korean director further asserts he was amazed by the Galaxy S23 Ultra's performance in the focus test as the camera was able to keep up with the movement and capture the focal point that extends past the actor's spectacles.
