There have been several reports about Samsung making a slimmer and higher-end version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Some rumors claimed it would be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, while others said it would be named the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. However, it looks like Samsung won't go with any of those names for its next high-end foldable phone. Instead, it could be named the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could be Samsung's next foldable phone
According to reliable leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks), Samsung is working on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Going by the language they used in their post on X, it seems like it is the name of Samsung's flagship foldable phone instead of the rumored names Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim and Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. Previous reports claimed it would only be launched in China and South Korea, so the Special Edition naming seems apt.
The slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is said to be 11mm thin, making it 1.1mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that was launched last month. Apparently, Samsung has removed the digitizer from the inner screen, so the S Pen won't be compatible with the device. So, Samsung's highest-end foldable phone won't be able to match the thinness of Chinese foldable phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is said to feature a titanium back plate. It will reportedly feature a 12MP ultrawide camera on the rear, a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen, and an upgraded 5MP under-display camera below the foldable screen. Samsung might also change the aspect ratio of the screens and use a higher-end primary camera, but those things haven't been confirmed so far.
Samsung might unveil the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition later this year between October and December. It will likely be priced higher than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6.
