Samsung introduced Smart Widgets with One UI 4.1, and the feature was released to all compatible Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z series phones. However, it was missing from Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy Tab series devices. Now, that appears to be changing.
According to 9To5Google, the Galaxy Tab S8 series has received an update that brought the Smart Widgets feature to the high-end tablet. The device seems to be running the latest update released on April 15 and had the March 2022 security patch.
There appear to be three sizes of Smart Widgets: 2×2, 4×1, and 4×2. Except for the 2×2 widget, other Smart Widgets can be resized. Similar to Galaxy phones, these new widgets can be edited and customized to contain the widgets of your preference. You can swipe left or right on the Smart Widget to switch between different widgets.
Hopefully, Samsung will release the Smart Widget feature to even older high-end and mid-range tablets. You can read our dedicated Smart Widget article to know how to use the new widgets on your Galaxy device.
