After the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 last year, it was widely expected that Qualcomm would rename its entire range of smartphone chipsets. The company has already launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, and now, the specifications of the unreleased Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset have leaked.
Legendary leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has published a slide that lists all the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (SM6450) specifications. The upcoming chipset is fabricated using a 4nm process, and it isn't clear if Samsung Foundry or TSMC makes it, but we expect it to be the former.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 specifications
The chipset has a 2.2GHz octa-core 64-bit CPU, 2,750MHz LPDDR5 RAM compatibility, and the new Adreno GPU. The new GPU features HDR gaming with 10-bit color depth, HDR playback (with HLG), and Vulkan 1.1 support. The GPU can drive up to Full HD+ resolution displays at a 120Hz refresh rate.
The triple-12-bit Spectra ISP can support up to 108MP cameras and simultaneously process data from three 13MP cameras with zero shutter lag. It can also process data from 25MP+16MP dual cameras or a 48MP single camera with zero shutter lag. The processor can record up to 4K HDR 30fps videos and capture 48MP images simultaneously.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1's cellular connectivity features include support for sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G (SA and NSA), complete with carrier aggregation. Other features include GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NavIC, QZSS, Galileo, Wi-Fi 6E (with 8×8 MU-MIMO), Bluetooth 5.2 (with LE Audio, aptX Lossless, and aptX Adaptive), USB Type-C 3.1, and NFC.
Based on these specifications, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset could be an excellent fit for next-generation mid-range Samsung Galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy A34 and the Galaxy A54.
