As you can see in the image above, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy branding has been showcased in Galaxy S23's promotional images. The image below promotes the gaming performance of the Galaxy S23 Ultra and reveals the special branding for the processor. It also reveals some form of optimization for the racing Android game Wreckfest that's exclusive to the Galaxy S23's special chipset.
Previous leaks have claimed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor is an overclocked version of the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It has a prime CPU core clocked at 3.36GHz (instead of 3.2GHz) and the Adreno 740 GPU clocked at 719MHz (instead of 680MHz). So, the chipset will be theoretically slightly faster than the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, a lot also depends on the heat dissipation mechanism and software optimization that Samsung has implemented in the Galaxy S23 series.
Only after testing the device thoroughly can we say whether the special Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip makes any noticeable difference. Except for the 128GB version of the Galaxy S23, all other devices in the lineup feature UFS 4.0 storage (which has double the storage speed than UFS 3.1 chips) and LPDDR5X RAM.
