Today, Samsung announced that Swiss Post has replaced industrial scanners with Galaxy devices through a project that kicked off in 2020. The “NEMO” project, as Swiss Post calls it, has replaced industrial scanners with Galaxy A and Galaxy Xcover devices for letters and parcels.
According to Samsung, Swiss Post has employed 30,000 Galaxy devices since 2020. More specifically, Swiss Post uses 20,000 Galaxy A phones, roughly 5,000 Galaxy Xcover rugged phones, and around 5,000 Enterprise Edition Galaxy A devices.
Delivering nearly 200 million parcels with Galaxy phones
Swiss Post reportedly delivered roughly 194 million parcels in 2022 alone, and at the heart of this logistical achievement was the Galaxy smartphone.
The Galaxy A series is more than suited for the task, and Samsung says the A lineup “was able to meet all postal workers' requirements for a reliable technological companion.”
One of the Galaxy A's top qualities for the job at Swiss Post is strong battery life, which allows workers to plan route deliveries, communicate with their teams, and scan letters and parcels for long periods of use. The Galaxy Xcover series has an even greater advantage in this area thanks to its user-replaceable battery.
Another point in favor of using Samsung Galaxy devices is the Knox Suite (E-FOTA One), which allows administrators to monitor and support these enterprise devices remotely.
The NEMO project has been a great success so far, and Swiss Posts says it wants to replace all industrial scanners that remain in use with Samsung devices.
Speaking of the Xcover series, Samsung is now developing the Galaxy Xcover 7, which should hit the market relatively soon — either this year or early next year. The Xcover 7 is a rugged phone, just like its predecessors, and sports a new mid-range MediaTek chipset. It should run Android 14 and One UI 6 at launch.
