Many smartphone brands are now using Samsung's ISOCELL camera sensors in their mid-range and high-end devices. The latest brand to use the South Korean firm's camera sensor is Tecno. The Chinese smartphone brand unveiled its flagship smartphone for 2023, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, which uses two ISOCELL sensors.
Tecno's latest smartphone uses a 50MP primary camera with the ISOCELL GNV sensor and OIS. It's the same 1/1.3-inch sensor with 1.2µm pixels that Samsung co-developed with Vivo, and it is also used in the Vivo X80 Pro. The second Samsung sensor used in the Phantom X2 Pro is the ISOCELL JN1 1/2.76-inch with 0.64µm native pixels, an F1.45 aperture, 1.28µm pixels (after 4-in-1 pixel binning), and autofocus.
Tecno Phantom X2 Pro uses an interesting telephoto camera
The secondary camera is quite interesting. It uses a retractable lens, making it a telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom. So, when you use this camera, the lens extends outwards from the phone's body and then retracts when you switch to the other sensor or close the camera. This design is used to keep the phone's body thin.
The smartphone also uses a 13MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, which can double up as a macro camera. All three rear cameras can capture 4K 60fps videos. On the front, the phone has a 32MP selfie camera, likely a Samsung ISOCELL camera as well. However, the company hasn't revealed the exact model number. The selfie camera maxes out at 1080p 30fps video recording.
Other features of the phone include a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device comes equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, up to 12GB RAM, up to 256GB internal storage, 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, a USB Type-C port, an under-display fingerprint reader, a 5,160mAh battery, and 45W fast charging.
