Meta could soon let you edit your posts on Threads

After Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri confirmed after the Threads app July update that an edit button is on the list of upcoming features, the latest report seemingly confirms that Meta could soon roll out the feature. According to a screenshot shared by developer Alessandro Paluzzi on X (formerly Twitter), you will soon be able to edit your Threads post.

Looking closely, you will notice that there is a timer next to the Edit button, which denotes that you will be able to edit your Instagram Threads post within 5 minutes of posting it. This is a bit narrower compared to X, where you can edit your post within 1-hour of posting it. An edit button is one of the most important things, especially for social media apps that are text-heavy, and the latest scoop confirms that the feature is well under testing and could roll out widely soon.

In addition to the Edit button, you can also see the ‘Who can reply,' ‘Hide like count,' and ‘Delete' buttons. Also, there is no indication if Meta plans to lock the Edit button feature on Threads behind a paywall. Its competitor, X, offers editing to users who have subscribed to the $10+/month X Premium plan.

Meta hasn't confirmed anything regarding this new Edit button in Threads; however, the screenshot shared by Paluzzi makes us optimistic that the feature could arrive sooner rather than later. Such good-to-have features are a must for an app as new as Threads if it wishes to take on X. This is because Meta's slow pace in adding new features was one of the main reasons millions of active Threads users no longer use the app.
