Samsung's Bespoke Family Hub refrigerators got smarter in 2024 thanks to improvements to the AI Vision Inside system, which learned to recognize more than 30 food items. However, there's more to the 2024 Bespoke Family Hub fridges than AI Vision Inside, and some of those other quality-of-life Tizen features are now coming to older models through a firmware update.
Samsung announced today that several 2024 software enhancements are now reaching older Family Hub fridges released in 2017 and later thanks to a new Tizen firmware update.
One major addition is a dedicated YouTube app, which allows Family Hub refrigerator owners to seamlessly access their YouTube accounts and stream their favorite content on the fridge's display.
YouTube and a new App Dock for your favorite apps
If the dedicated YouTube app isn't enough to get you excited, then maybe the other part of this 2024 update will. It's a quality-of-life feature that will change the way you interact with your Family Hub display.
Namely, Samsung is adding an App Dock element to the Tizen UI on your Family Hub fridge. This App Dock lets you to add up to six apps you want to pin at the bottom of the display.
With this feature, you no longer have to exit an app to switch to another one. Now, you can easily switch between pinned apps by tapping their icons, and the overall user experience is more similar to that of a Galaxy tablet or a Galaxy Z Fold smartphone running the latest version of One UI.
