The Galaxy A51 is getting its last big Android OS upgrade in the USA. Specifically, Android 13 is now live for the unlocked Galaxy A51 in the United States, and with the new firmware comes One UI 5.0 and the December 2022 security patch.
The Galaxy A51 shipped in 2019 with Android 10 onboard. The phone is eligible for three major Android OS upgrades, which means that version 13 – along with One UI 5.0 – is the last major firmware release for this mid-range phone.
Thankfully, support for new OS upgrades is ending on a high note. One UI 5.0 is a fantastic update focused on optimizing performance and cleaning up the UI, all the while adding quality-of-life features and improving customization options with stacked widgets and a new lock screen selection menu.
The update also brings a new “Connected devices” section inside the Settings app and an easy way to monitor and close background apps from the Recent Apps screen. Also new are multi-window gestures, which make multitasking through multi-view a more integral part of the One UI experience.
The Android 13 One UI 5.0 update is available for the Galaxy A51 with model number SM-A515U1 and carries firmware version A515U1UEU8EWA6.
To update your factory-unlocked Galaxy A51 in the USA, tap the notification once it arrives or open the Settings app on your phone, access “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” As usual, if you prefer manual updates via a PC, you can download the official firmware files from our website.
