A couple of days ago, the Galaxy S23 became the first phone to get Samsung's new security update. However, the December 2023 security update was limited to the carrier-locked versions of phones in the Galaxy S23 series. Now, the update has expanded to the factory-unlocked models as well.
Galaxy S23 gets December 2023 security update for carrier-locked units in the US
The factory-unlocked versions of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are now getting the December 2023 security update. It comes with firmware version S91xU1UES2BWKA in the US and is available on all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, Cricket, DISH, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. If you have any of these phones, you can now check for the new update by opening the Settings app and navigating to Software update » Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
The new update brings the December 2023 security patch, which, according to Samsung's security bulletin, fixes around 75 security flaws identified in the previous versions of the software for the Galaxy S23 series. It is a small update, so don't expect it to bring any performance improvements or new features.
Samsung recently received the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update in several countries. It could get one more minor software update before getting the One UI 6.1 update. The One UI 6.1 update will likely debut with the Galaxy S24 series next month and might be released to older flagships shortly.
