Samsung has launched a handful of Galaxy A series smartphones in the USA this year. The most affordable one of them all is the Galaxy A14 5G, which launched in the country in mid-January.
The Galaxy A14 5G was launched running Android 13 and One UI 5.0 and a promise of two major Android OS upgrades. While Android 14 and One UI 6.0 are some ways off for not just the Galaxy A14 5G but any Galaxy device, Samsung has the One UI 5.1 update to keep customers happy.
One UI 5.1 brings new features, April security patch to Verizon's A14 5G
The Galaxy A14 5G started receiving the One UI 5.1 update in various markets a month ago, and this week, it is rolling out to A14 5G units on Verizon's network. The update brings firmware version A146USQU2BWD4, the April 2023 security patch, and quite a few One UI 5.1 goodies.
Some of those goodies include the option to change the color tone while capturing selfies, quick adjustment of an app's window size in Pop-Up View and quick access to recently used apps in split-screen mode, the ability to remaster GIF files, more wallpaper choices, a battery widget for the home screen for checking battery status of all connected devices, and more.
Galaxy A14 5G owners on Verizon can download the One UI 5.1 update over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. The SamMobile firmware archive will also have the full One UI 5.1 firmware available for download soon. The firmware files can be used to update the device using a Windows PC.
