Samsung's virtual influencer with pop star aspirations and a blog to fill, Sam, is coming to Galaxy Unpacked 2024 on January 17 to talk about the new flagship phones and the new era of AI.

Sam is now Samsung's Artificial Intelligence ambassador “thanks to her unique understanding of the topic,” Samsung Mexico confirmed in a press release. And, in case you missed the news, the Galaxy S24 series will be Samsung's first AI phone, which makes Sam's involvement that much more interesting, even if she isn't a true AI.

Story continues after the video

Samsung says that Sam will present the new products and talk with the event's guests about the new era of AI. During the launch event, she will also interview five live — as in not virtual — influencers from Latin America.

A phenomenon in Latin America

If you're unaware of Sam, she — or it — is not a true AI but an animated avatar backed by real albeit nameless people, bloggers, voice actors, and songwriters working at or for Samsung. In December, Sam started exploring her new career as a pop star and released her first music video.

In July 2023, the virtual influencer covered the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 announcement live on the Samsung Live webpage, and her contribution reportedly boosted foldable phone sales across Latin America.

Sam will likely present Unpacked 2024 in a similar fashion as last year, wherein fans will be able to visit the Samsung Live page and watch the virtual influencer talk about the latest AI-powered mobile products, i.e., the Galaxy S24.

Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will begin at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST / 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CET on January 17 in San Jose, California. The event will be live-streamed on the company's website and official YouTube channel. Here's how you can watch the event once it goes live.

If you plan on buying the Galaxy S24, you can already reserve it by hitting the “Reserve” button below and benefit from a $50 discount and other bonuses.
